        ❖ know what is Upgrade
        ❖ know what is Downgrade

> Downgrade :

1. First, we can create a network topology with the name and prefix Internet, using the ManagementCloud0 type, and including one MikroTikRouterOS-which we configured to have 64 MB of RAM-and one VPC (Virtual PC).

2. Activate the HTML console to access the MikroTik RouterOS terminal, log in with the username admin (leave the password blank), set the router's hostname using the command system identity set name=(your name), and check the dynamic IP address with ip address print.

3. Next, ping 8.8.8.8 to test internet connectivity and verify that the virtual device in PnetLab can reach the global internet, specifically the Google Public DNS server.

4. After obtaining the router’s dynamic IP address, we use the command system package print to view the installed system packages, where it shows that all packages are running version 6.49.18, as seen in the image.

5. Next, use the system resource print command to check the device’s initial status, especially the architecture type x86_64 in this case—which is needed to download the correct version later.

6. Next we will downgrade Mikrotik, to downgrade from version 6.49.18 to 6.49.15, open Chrome, go to mikrotik.com, click Software, then Download archive, and select version 6.49.15 to download the corresponding file.

7. scroll until you find x86. If you have found the npk version, or you can download the link below (routeros-x86-6.49.15.npk).

8.Next, click on the router, change the Secondary Console to WinBox, and click Save to apply the changes, as we will use WinBox to upload the downloaded file.

9. Make sure WinBox is installed, then open winbox and enter the router's IP address (from the ip address print command) in the Connect To field, use admin as login, then click Connect.

10. After connecting, go to the Files section on the left, then click Upload to add the previously downloaded file.

11. After clicking Upload, select the downloaded file, and once uploaded, it will appear in the file list as shown in the red box.

12.  Once the version 6.49.15 file is uploaded, go to the System menu and select Packages. Although the current version still shows 6.49.18, click Downgrade to start the downgrade process.

13. After clicking Downgrade, a confirmation message will appear—click Yes to reboot the router and begin the downgrade to version 6.49.15.

14. Once reconnected, go to the System menu and select Packages to confirm that the MikroTik RouterOS has been successfully downgraded to version 6.49.15.

>Upgrade

1. To upgrade from version 6.49.11 to 6.49.18, open WinBox, go to System, then select Packages.

2. Next select Check for update.

3. Set the channel to stable, then confirm that the installed version is 6.49.15 and the latest version is 6.49.18—if correct, click Download & Install to begin the upgrade.

4. The final step is to return to PnetLab and open the router terminal, then enter the command system package print to verify that the upgrade was successful—confirming the version has changed from the previous 6.49.15 to 6.49.18.
