LAB 1.2 - Instalasi PNETLAB

A. Learning Objectives
❖ Students are able to install vmplayer
❖ Students are able to install pnetlab
❖ Students are able to configure qemu
❖ Students are able to connect pnetlab.
❖ Students are able to connect the internet.
B. Tools and Materials required
❖ Vmware Player application version 16.1.2
❖ VM Pnetlab.ova version 4.2.10.
❖ Internet connection.
C. VMware Player Installation
1. We need a VMware player as a virtualization that we will create as a simulation of the device we are using. create as a simulation of the device we are using. To get internet ip with bridge type and host only adapter. We need this to test the internet connection between clients in pnetlab or even to the guest host laptop. Please download the VMware Player first on the site:

2. Wait for the installation process to complete in the download folder.
3. Click the downloaded application, then a pop-up will appear, click yes. Welcome to VMware workstation 16, then click next.
4. Check the I accept the terms of the license agreement box and click next.
5. Custom setup let default we will choose the free vmware player then click next.
6. Leave the user experience settings as default and click next.
7. Ready to install VMware workstation player click install.
8. The VMware player installation is complete, click Finish.
D. Instalasi pnetlab
1. First download the file in the form of ova type on the :
2. After downloading the file, then open it using open with vmware player.
3. After that, the machine name import process leaves the default. then Wait for the pnetlab import process to finish.
4. The result will be a new vm with the name pnetlab according to what we imported earlier with an ip address of 192.168.23.131. Previously running pnetlab there are several stages that need to be installed or activated.
5.Shut down the machine first, make sure the vm name appears. Then make changes to the settings.
6. Checklist intel VT-x or AMD-V/RVI virtualization first in the virtual machine settings⇒ select processor⇒give a checkmark to checkmark on virtualisasi intel VT-X/EPT atau AMD-V?RVI .

7. After that, click start to start the pnetlab installation again.
8. Use the user root and password pnet as shown in the login display here can be seen that the user = root and password is pnet.
9. After that, enter the new root password.
10. Next, enter the domain you want.
11. Because the ip address used to remote pnetlab then the use of ip, we can choose the one that uses ip dhcp.
12. In terms of connection, we will choose a direct connection directly to the pnetlab remote, wait for the pnetlab reboot process.
13. Next, enter the root user and password, The display if successfully logged in will be like this:
14. Enter the web browser then enter the ip address pnetlab = 192.168.23.130 . Because we don't have a user yet we can use online mode. Select online mode.
15. After that, enter your username and password, then enter the captcha code that appears and log in.

16. The pnetlab dashboard view was successfully accessed.
E. Upload characters from pnetlab
2. Extract the chr file first.
4. Go to the opt/unitlab/addons/qemu folder and create the folder mikrotik folder. Now for mikrotik we create a folder along with the version. for example my version is mikrotik-6.49.13.
5. The chr file upload process will be entered according to the specified directory
that has been specified.
6. After that, if the display is like below you click okay, then make sure the file has been uploaded.
7. Next, you can change the file extension to hda.qcow2 because it is based on qemu.
8. Then reload the file on the server. Change file permissions with the command : /opt/unetlab/wrappers/unl_wrapper -a fixpermissions.
9. After reloading the file. you continue to open a web browser here I use firefox, then click new tab then enter your ip address. “for example my ip address = 192.168.23.130”.
10. Here you can create a new lab, then create a new design with the name of the exercise.

12. Next, you select MikroTikRouterOS by default, it already appears because chr
we have uploaded.
13. Next, change the ram to 64MB first, then click save.
14. This is an example of the MikrotikRouterOS display that we have created.

16. Connect the two devices by pulling the plug-shaped cable to the destination device. After connecting the lines between the devices we activate the two devices. How to activate it click on Mikrotik select start.
